When your store outgrows a plan, we'll tell you what fits.

Big catalogues, high order volumes, stock syncing with a POS or ERP, sale-day traffic spikes. We'll look at what your store actually needs and suggest options with the reasons and the trade-offs. Sometimes that's a server with us. Sometimes it isn't.

Signs you've outgrown a plan

The store works, but it's starting to strain.

None of these automatically means "buy a bigger server". A slow store is often one bad query, not too little hardware, so we look before we prescribe.

  • Category and search pages crawlEspecially as the catalogue grows into the thousands of products.
  • Checkout slows down on busy daysSales, launches and Black Friday expose limits a quiet Tuesday never does.
  • Stock doesn't matchThe website, the shop counter and the warehouse disagree, and someone fixes it by hand.
  • Scheduled jobs pile upImports, feeds and order exports that time out or quietly fail.
  • You need things a shared plan can't offerA pinned PHP version, a staging copy, custom server software or more control.

The options

What we might suggest

The right answer depends on your store. Here's the range we work through, cheapest first.

Fix what you have

Find the real bottleneck before spending on hardware.

A plugin querying the whole product table, a missing index, a cron that never finishes. Fixing the cause is often a few hours' work, and it stops a bigger server from hiding the problem for another six months.

A dedicated VPS with us

Your own NZ server and a tuned WooCommerce stack. From $180/mo + GST.

Dedicated resources in our Auckland datacentre, pinned PHP versions, caching tuned for your store, staging environments, and queues and crons that matter. Quoted to the workload, not sold as a tier.

Connect your systems

Stock, orders and customers flowing between your store, POS, ERP and accounts.

Integrations are Primal Media's other day job: REST APIs, webhooks and EDI. We build them to be reliable and logged, so a failed sync gets noticed instead of discovered by a customer.

A different platform

If something else genuinely suits you better, we'll say so.

For some stores a hosted platform is the better call. If that's you, we'll explain why, what you'd gain and lose, and what the move involves, even when it isn't work for us.

How we decide

Numbers first, then options

One store we looked at had been told twice to buy a bigger plan. The fix was a query rewrite, and its category pages went from 8.4 seconds to 1.6. Read the case notes.

Look at the store

Traffic, catalogue size, slow pages, plugins, integrations and logs: what's actually happening, not what the hosting panel guesses.

Recommend options, with prices

Usually two or three, with the trade-offs explained in plain English. Prices exclude 15% GST.

Move on your schedule

Staged and tested before the switch, cut over at a quiet time, with a rollback ready. Your store stays trading throughout.

Next step

Tell us about your store.

What it runs on, roughly how big it is, and what's going wrong. You'll get a straight answer about the options.
